Departure & Return Location

Kigali – Rwanda

Itinerary

Day 1Departure from Kigali – Transfer to the Rusizi border

Have breakfast first thing in the morning. Following check-out, begin your tour through Nyungwe forest. A journey from Kigali to the DR Congo’s Rusizi border crossing in southern Rwanda takes around 6-7 hours.

On the way, lunch is given. You will cross the border and join with our driver guide in the Democratic Republic of the Congo for the remainder of your trip to your accommodation in Bukavu.

Day 2Trekking with Lowland Gorillas in Kahuzi Biega

Meet the driver after breakfast for a trip to the park headquarters for the briefing.
Later on, you embark on an expedition in pursuit of Lowland Gorillas.

The amount of time and distance traveled is determined by the location of your gorilla troop.
Once you’ve seen them, you’re only permitted one hour in their presence.
Bring a packed lunch and plenty of water.
Following that, return to the resort to unwind.

Early in the morning, get up to begin the boat voyage from Bukavu to Goma.
The voyage lasts around three hours.

You’ll check into a hotel for lunch and some downtime.
Later in the day, you’ll have a tour of Goma, stopping at various tourist attractions before checking in at your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 4Virunga Gorilla Trek

Check in with Virunga early in the morning for the gorilla trekking adventure.
The action is incredible and provides an opportunity to witness Mountain Gorillas in their natural habitat.

Day 5Ascend Nyiragongo

Transfer to Kibati starting quite early in the morning after breakfast.
The ascent begins in the morning and takes around 6–7 hours.

It includes two rest stops on the way to the peak.
Once reaching the summit, take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and the molten Lava blazing at night.

After a fantastic night at the summit, you begin your descent.
