Day by day
Day 1: Arrival and drive to Kibale
Your driver-guide meets you at Entebbe International Airport for the drive to Kibale Forest, with lunch on the way. Depending on your arrival time there may be time for a short Kampala city tour first, or an evening cultural visit near the park.
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale
After a briefing at park headquarters, join a ranger-led group of up to eight to follow chimpanzees for two to four hours. In the afternoon, take a nature walk and a short cultural visit.
Day 3: To Queen Elizabeth National Park
Drive to Queen Elizabeth past the Rwenzori Mountains, with lunch on the way. In the afternoon, take your first game drive to look for elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo and Uganda kob.
Day 4: Game drive and Kazinga Channel boat trip
A morning game drive on the park trails, then an afternoon boat trip on the Kazinga Channel, where hippos, crocodiles and buffalo gather at the water's edge.
Day 5: To Bwindi via Ishasha
Drive south to Bwindi. When the road allows, the route passes through the Ishasha sector, known for its tree-climbing lions. Arrive in the early evening and rest before tomorrow's trek.
Day 6: Gorilla trekking, then Lake Bunyonyi
After a briefing, trek with rangers in groups of up to eight to find a gorilla family, usually three to five hours in all, and spend one hour with them. Afterward, continue to Lake Bunyonyi.
Day 7: A day on Lake Bunyonyi
A free day on the lake. Visit the islands by boat and meet members of the Batwa community, or simply rest. Swimming and kayaking are available for an extra fee.
Day 8: To Lake Mburo, with a boat trip
Drive to Lake Mburo in time for lunch, then take a boat trip on the lake to see crocodiles, hippos, pelicans, kingfishers and fish eagles, followed by a short game drive.
Day 9: Ankole culture and return
Meet Ankole cattle keepers, try milking and learn about their way of life, then drive to Kampala or Entebbe for your flight.
